The Bumble Bee machines feature a proven revolutionary design feature from our bigger machines; the vertical auger/oil tank. In this breakthrough design, the vertical auger tube goes through the oil tank. This does two things, as the snow and ice passes through the vertical auger tube – the snow cools the hydraulic oil. At the same time, the hydraulic oil (which is working hard so it is warm) heats up the vertical auger. The “passive heat exchanger” is effective in reducing the potential of snow jams in the vertical auger and the cooler oil temperature results in better overall hydraulic performance. The vertical auger transports the snow collected by the ice conditioner. The vertical auger rotates very quickly so as to move the snow to the integrated snow slinger. This large snow slinger throws the snow into the dump tank at a very high rate of speed. It’s so fast, efficient and powerful that the Sport Ice machines can compact the snow into a very dense package. This snow compaction effectively makes the snow tank bigger than it really is. The vertical auger housing features integrated drain holes in the base plate to extend auger bearing life.
Shaving Blade Adjustment
The Bumble Bee machine has the shaving blade control handwheel located on the conditioner. With the BB machine typically used by less skilled operators, the blade control is designed so that the rink manager can set the blade shaving depth and then quickly remove the handwheel (quick disconnect) so that the less experienced operators are shaving the ice as the manager has established.
The Bumble Bee Pro has the Sport Ice standard blade control tower which allows the operator to adjust the shaving depth “on-the-fly” (while resurfacing).
The horizontal auger is a unique and efficient design in that it features single and double flighting - single flighting for most of it’s length on the driver’s side that changes to double flighting in the important snow transfer area. The snow slingers feature a new, more efficient design so that there is very little residual snow left over.
Conditioner Down Pressure
The Bumble Bee machine uses the same strong, stiff and robust ice conditioner frame as the Bronco machines. The ice conditioner has a heavy, strong blade bar which features blade bar “down pressure” springs which eliminate blade chatter. This along with a strong lift bar and hydraulically applied and locked in place “down pressure” provides a superior structure from which to shave the ice.
Simple Blade Leveling
The shaving blade is secured and the blade level maintained by the simple and robust blade leveling system. The blade level is adjusted on each side of the conditioner by rotating the easily accessible leveling screw.
